THE BEGINNING
Jim Conway's background and future visions including a description of the organisation's humble beginnings, its perceptions and early history alongside details of the JCF's charitable status.

EDUCATION & TRAINING
The development of the charity's approach to many subject areas, from the effect of Governmental legislation of the 1970s and 1980s on trade unions, to the influence of new technology on employment.

RESEARCH
From humble beginnings, the JCF evolved into an internationally recognised research organisation with multiple books, articles and research papers some of which are available in the British Library.

PUBLICATIONS
Images and further information about some of the many publications that the JCF produced including JCF Focus and the JCF Bulletin.

LECTURE SERIES
Lectures were given by a former prime minister, former Secretary of State for Employment, the Chairman of ACAS, 4 trade union general secretaries, a leading academic, and 2 national newspaper industrial editors.

WESTERN EUROPE
In the 1970s, the JCF formed links with two German organisations, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), and the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung (HBS).

CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPE
In the early 1990s, the JCF became involved with training programmes in Central and Eastern Europe, becoming registered training agents for both PHARE and TACIS in 1991.

THE BALKANS - Serbo-Croat-Bosnian Region (SOBR.)
The war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, had finished six-months earlier but total peace had not been effectively restored. In 1996, the JCF became involved in the SOBR; as the sole UK representative. Difficult times!

JAPAN & THE USA
The introduction to wider international involvement began by chance when the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) entered into a single union agreement with Japanese company NSK Bearings at its Peterlee plant.

A REFLECTIVE ASSESSMENT
John Lloyd, a leading industrial editor of the late twentieth-century, kindly offered to contribute to this JCF website by describing the political climate within the trade union movement during the 1980s and 1990s.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Here many individuals and organisations are recognised for the support the charity received over a 25-year period. We appreciate that help and support.
